Overview
The District encourages half-time (0.5 FTE) or greater, certified employees and administrators who know they will not continue their contract for the following school year - due to retirement or resignation - to submit their notice early to the District for staffing purposes. Those employees who qualify and submit the proper forms by the deadline as outlined below will be eligible to receive the $1,000 Early Retirement/Resignation Stipend. For full details and qualifications, please read further. Please be aware, your retirement/resignation will become public knowledge at the April school board meeting.
Deadline for Submission
All forms must be signed and submitted to Human Resources, attention Susan Higley no later than 4:00 P.M., February 16, 2024. Forms may be submitted via:

Qualifications, Acknowledgements, and Instructions
Please be sure to review the below qualifications, acknowledgments, and instructions in order to apply for your Early Retirement/Resignation Stipend.
To Qualify for the Stipend:
You are currently working half-time (0.5 FTE) or greater and are on a Standard Teacher/Administrator Contract.
You are eligible for a Standard Teacher’s Contract or Administrator’s contract for the 2024-25 school year.
You acknowledge that by submitting your Certified Early Notice Stipend Packet on or before 4:00 P.M., February 16, 2024, your Standard Contract will not be renewed.
You intend to work to the end of your 2023-24 contract.

You understand and acknowledge the following:
Your early retirement/resignation submitted on or before 4:00 P.M., February 16, 2024, is of your own choosing; this process is voluntary.
Your intent to not return to the District will become public knowledge at the April school board meeting.
Upon approval by the Board of Trustees, your election to retire or resign at the end of the 2023-24 school year will be final and non-revocable; except for special circumstances as defined in the Negotiated Agreement, Article II., O.*
Should you successfully invoke this provision of the Negotiated Agreement on or before May 10th, 2024, you will return to your prior position if available. If not available, the District will place you in a position in the District for which you are qualified.
PERSI retirement-eligible employees, you understand and have contacted PERSI regarding PERSI retirement and know the amount of the monthly benefits (including but not limited to income and health insurance benefits) you will receive upon retirement. Please contact PERSI in regards to your exact benefits. For additional information regarding Retiree Benefits and Rates, visit our Preparing for PERSI Retirement webpage.
Your pay and benefits will continue through your last scheduled pay date.
*Negotiated Agreement, Article II, O. The term “Special Circumstance” as used in this Contract shall mean a situation which could not have been prepared for in advance and which requires immediate attention.
To Apply for the Stipend:
Complete the Certified/Administrator Early Notice Stipend Packet.
Have your principal/supervisor sign the Early Notice of Retirement/Resignation Stipend Form (part of the aforementioned packet).
Submit the completed forms directly to:

Please note, you are welcome to supply a personal letter along with the forms from above; your personal letter will be forwarded to your area director. A personal letter will not be accepted in lieu of the Early Notice of Retirement/Resignation Stipend Form & the Retirement/Resignation Form.
Once HR is in receipt of your forms, you will receive a confirmation email to the address provided on the forms.

Those employees who qualify and submit the proper forms by the deadline as outlined below will be eligible to receive the $500 Early Retirement/Resignation Stipend. For full details and qualifications, please read further. Please be aware, your retirement/resignation will become public knowledge at the April school board meeting.

You intend to work to the end of your 2023-24 work year.
You acknowledge that by submitting your Classified Early Notice Stipend Packet on or before 4:00 P.M., February 16, 2024, you will not be eligible for re-employment by the District for the 2024-25 school year in a regular full -time or part-time position*.
* Regular full- and part-time employment is defined in the Classified Employee Handbook, Section 2.3.2 Status Classifications.

Your early retirement/resignation submitted on or before 4:00 P.M., February 16, 2024, is of your own choosing; this process is voluntary.

Should you successfully appeal this provision on or before May 10, 2024, there is no guarantee you will return to your prior position and pay. If your prior position is not available, the District will place you in a position in the District, if available, for which you are qualified with the relative pay rate and work hours assigned to the position.
